Trees, Trimmings, and Traditions

Baubles, boughs, and beauty, the decorating and displaying of the Christmas tree is a beloved Christmas tradition.  How did this tradition begin?  How has it evolved through the years?  Rediscover the history and tradition of the Christmas tree and its ornamentation in this presentation.  In addition, you will have the opportunity to learn how and make your own tree ornament.

About the speaker: Nancy is a historical broom maker and a basket weaver. For over 29 years, she has shared her passion and knowledge of history through living history portrayals. Nancy and her husband, Gary, frequently provide presentations on Revolutionary War and Civil War to schools in the area. She volunteers most weekends during the summer demonstrating her crafts at the Nevada City, MT museum as part of their living history program. Other times during the spring and summer you may find her at Mountain Man Rendezvouses, Civil War Encampments, 1860’s Mining and Pioneer Living History Events.  She frequently jokes that since retiring, she spends a significant number of her days “time-traveling.” Before retiring, Nancy was a Fire Protection Engineer at the Idaho National Lab.
