Mummies, Myths & Movie Magic: Egyptology Weekend Events
The Museum of Idaho is thrilled to welcome world-renowned Egyptologists Dr. Bob Brier and Patricia Remler to Idaho Falls for a special public appearance the first weekend of September. Dr. Brier is known internationally for his groundbreaking research on ancient Egyptian mummification and the creation of MUMAB—the first modern-day mummy prepared using ancient techniques, currently on display in Mummies of the World: The Exhibition. Remler is a photographer, author, and art historian. They will headline a weekend of events tied to Mummies of the World, the museum’s blockbuster exhibit.

9/5 at 7pm: The Mummy Film Screening with Expert Commentary
Location: ISU Idaho Falls Campus, Tingey Auditorium (1776 Science Center Dr)
Audiences are invited to a special screening of the 1999 action-adventure classic The Mummy at the ISU Auditorium. Dr. Brier will offer live expert commentary, providing insights into what the film gets right (and wrong) about Egyptology, ancient tombs, and mummification. Watch trailer

Meet Egyptologists in the Galleries (Multiple Sessions)
Two sessions: 9/5 @ 1– 3 pm | 9/6 at 10–11:30 am
Visitors will have the rare opportunity to explore Mummies of the World: The Exhibition alongside Brier and Remler. They will be available in the Ancient Egypt and MUMAB galleries to share the story behind MUMAB and answer questions about Egyptian art, mythology, science, and mummification. Free with museum admission. Admission is always free for museum members. Join.
9/6 at 7 pm: Evening Lecture: The Making of MUMAB
Join us at the Museum of Idaho for a special evening with world-renowned Egyptologist Dr. Bob Brier. He’ll share the story behind MUMAB — the modern mummy he helped create to unlock the secrets of ancient Egyptian embalming.
After the lecture, step into the Mummies of the World: The Exhibition to see MUMAB in person and engage with Dr. Brier.

About Dr. Bob Brier
Affectionately known as “Mr. Mummy,” Dr. Bob Brier is one of the world’s leading authorities on mummies and ancient Egypt. A pioneer in experimental Egyptology, he is best known for replicating the mummification techniques of the ancient Egyptians to create MUMAB (Mummy of University of Maryland At Baltimore)—the first modern mummy made using 2,000-year-old methods.
Dr. Brier serves as Senior Research Fellow at Long Island University (LIU Post) in New York and has examined some of history’s most iconic mummies, including King Tutankhamun, Ramses the Great, Vladimir Lenin, Eva Perón, the Marquise of Dai, and members of the Medici family.
A frequent guest on National Geographic, Discovery Channel, and the History Channel, Brier has brought the science and stories of ancient Egypt to millions. He has authored ten books and traveled the globe in pursuit of the past, making his visit to Idaho Falls a rare and remarkable opportunity to engage with a true legend in the field.
