More info:
- The Wasden-Croft Archaeological Preserve, in the Arco Desert west of Idaho Falls, is the region’s most important archaeological site, comprised of three lava-tube caves that contain evidence of human usage going back 13,000 years. More than 80,000 items, including pottery, stone and bone tools, and remains of mammoth, bison, dire wolf, and more, have been excavated from the caves and are now housed at the Museum of Idaho, where they are the subject of ongoing research projects.
- There are no restrooms at the cave site, and participants must be able to walk over uneven terrain.
