Active educators (including teachers, aides, and school administrators) get free admission to MOI during our Educator Days, offered twice per academic year.

Just show your school badge (or other proof of employment like your work email or paystub) at the ticket counter when you arrive.

  • The Museum of Idaho features some exhibits that include noises and changing light levels. In order to make some of these surprises more predictable, we have created resources that can be used before and during your visit. 

MOI will offer school memberships to any public or private area school to help build a culture of lifelong learners, supplement curriculum, and help teachers and students dive deep into project-based and place-based learning. With a membership, schools may save on scheduling multiple field trips per year and receive special access to certain MOI programs.

MOI offers a range of resources to support underserved communities. We appreciate educators help with spreading the word about these offerings so more people in the community can benefit from museum access.

• SNAP & WIC $2 admission

SNAP & WIC (EBT) cardholders visit the museum for just $2 (per covered adult and youth)

• Pop-in Programs/Entra un Momento

Dual-language program (English/Spanish)

Kids can explore a new topic each month through crafts and educational activites (free with museum admission).

• Reduced-cost memberships

MOI offers discounted memberships for families in financial need. Individuals or families can see if they qualify on our membership page using a matrix based on household size and income. Eligible families can join at half the cost.

• Adventure Backpacks

Visitors can check backpacks out for free at the front desk

Free, hands-on and sensory-friendly activities for a unique museum visit each time. Families can chose from up to six unique themes, including “Artist,” “Super Scientist,” and “Time Traveler.” Backpacks also include resources for the visually impaired and sensory-sensitive. Sponsored by Bank of Commerce.

• Low-cost educational programs

Thanks for generous grantors, MOI is able to offer deeply reduced-cost programs every month.

Little Learners is a great resource for families with toddlers who can’t afford preschool.  |  $6 per learner

Museum Mysteries allows kids ages 6-13 to unravel mysteries in the exhibits while learning about history, culture, and science  |  $10 per learner
