Note: This is one in a series of spotlights on MOI staff members who have been named a “Keefer Fellow,” a monthly program aimed at recognizing staffers for their contributions to the museum and the community.

Q: Explain what you do at the museum in 20 words or less.

Ashlee: As Director of Marketing, I collaborate with colleagues to advertise for special and permanent exhibits, programs, and events offered here.

Q: What’s a museum-related accomplishment that you’re particularly proud of?

Ashlee: I am particularly proud of starting as a volunteer in 2017 and getting to where I am today. Assisting with the 2020 speakeasy gala held at Aeromark is probably a very close second.

Q: What do you do for fun?

Ashlee: I enjoy getting out of town and traveling. If that is not possible, I am kayaking or exploring this beautiful state with my goldie, Bodie.

Q: What would you do for a career if you weren’t doing this (and if money were no object)?

Ashlee: I would renovate an old building and turn it into a concert venue here in Idaho Falls.

Q: What’s the weirdest / most interesting past job you’ve had?

Ashlee: I worked at Fin Fun and sold swimmable mermaid tails. I helped with an order placed for Kim Kardashian and other random celebrities.

Q: Name a setback in your life that has ended up being a good thing.

Ashlee: I was not able to go back to college until my late 20s. Learning as an actual adult was so much better than as an 18-year-old. I had no idea what I wanted then.

Q: What’s something – large or small, useful or not – that you’re really good at?

Ashlee: I am pretty great at waterskiing.

Q: What were you like in high school?

Ashlee: I was an artsy fartsy person that spent 80% of my time with friends in the art room.

Q: What’s your favorite book, movie, and TV show?

Ashlee:

  • Book: Meditations by Marcus Aurelius
  • Movie: Romeo and Juliet (from the 90s)
  • TV Show: The Sopranos and Schitts Creek

Q: Tell us something about you that might surprise us.

Ashlee: I am obsessed with 1960s music and cars.
